Sophisticate Dating Stage #6: Second Date

"If you kiss on the first date and it's not right, then there will be no second date. Sometimes it's better to hold out and not kiss for a long time. I am a strong believer in kissing being very intimate, and the minute you kiss, the floodgates open for everything else" Jennifer Lopez

If  you aren't good friends beforehand, meeting for coffee is 'The Interview' and the first date is 'The Trial', the second date is 'The Test'. If you were not friends before and you are getting to know each other, in my experience, the second date is the test of whether or not the relationship will continue or not. A second date can also be called a 'second chance'. A second date is  a second chance to see whether there will be or should be the chance for a third, fourth, and fifth date.

On the first date, you go through the niceties. You put your best foot forward, you are excited about the date, and there is an element of nervousness. These feelings may not allow you to be relaxed and therefore, not completely yourself.

The second date is when you  find out if you having anything more to talk about beyond the standard 'getting-to-know' you questions.

For the first date, my recommendation is to go somewhere or do something casual. The second date should be either at a sporting event or at a carnival or maybe even a movie. If you have a second date you will be reassured there is interest on both sides. Therefore, on a second date more often than not you will be relaxed enough to be more yourself and there will be distractions around you to allow for and facilitate discussion. Of course, if you go see a movie or go to a sporting event on the second date and there still is no discussion only awkward silence then the relationship is officially at it's end.

At the end of a second date, a Sophisticate will know whether she might have have her first chance at true love ;D!
