"And one thing was absolutely certain - life had never been sweeter." from the movie 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' (2005)

Ice cream is one of the most desired treats for a child. Love is the most desired treat for an adult. A Sophisticate knows that her love for ice cream as a little girl is replaced by the love she has for another person. A kiss from the man she loves is like the first sweet taste she has when she has an ice cream cone.

In the beginning of a relationship especially on the first or second date no one knows if you are going to fall in love with someone. Still, on the first date, I not only have a dessert test, I also have an ice cream test. I'm very old fashioned and believe in the first date being simple and sweet. I'm looking for someone who is as old fashioned as I am. Someone who understands and appreciates who I am. Whenever I am having a good time and the person I'm with is agreeable to having or offers dessert, I mention going to get ice cream. The sign that I'm really having a good time is when want an ice cream cone. In the fall or winter, I mention hot chocolate or coffee. It's my way of telling someone that I'm having such a good time I want to extend the excitement with a "sweet treat". Meaning that I'm not bitter, angry, or disappointed and want the sweetness of the date to be extended.

Love should not just be tolerated, it should be enjoyable, it should be special, and just as sweet as eating and enjoying ice cream. On the first date, a Sophisticate should not only have deal breakers (See 'Sophisticated Love Rule #5: Deal Breakers). or be aware of the 'pink flags' (See Sophisticate Dating Stage #5: Pink Flags) , she should have that one thing that is going to indicate to her that the person she's with isn't just someone but someone special.

In the end, a Sophisticate loves ice cream because it is innocent, it is simple, and more importantly it is delicious. Whether it be an ice cream cone or something else, there is always that small indication that there is a little certain something, a little something special about the person you have spent a little time with.... ;D
