"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain" Dolly Parton
Whenever I would tell my mom it had been a bad day she would always say "Well, they can't all be good" At the time, I thought she was being insensitive. I realized as I got older that what she was trying to say was that to have a good day every day is unrealistic. In life, a little rain must fall.
"The rain will wash away what's past/And rain will make the flowers grow" from 'A Little Fall of Rain' Les Miserables
From experience, a Sophisticate comes to realize pain is necessary for happiness and sadness leads to happiness. Whether it be a bad day or an emotional experience a Sophisticate knows what is true. She knows whatever is bad will allow her to understand what was good and allow her to count her blessings. However bad, if necessary a Sophisticate will learn from the situation and will make the adjustments to be a better person. Finally, no situation however bad (or good) is permanent. The only thing permanent in life is change. Whatever is bad realistically can't continue forever.
"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves" Victor Frankl
What does a Sophisticate do when she has a bad day? When a Sophisticate has a bad day first, she realizes that they happen sometimes. No one is exempt from having a bad day once in awhile. A Sophisticate takes time for herself and does what gives her pleasure, exercising, shopping, sleeping, or having comfort food.
To make sure that her bad days don't continue a Sophisticate decides to get over herself. She makes the decision to stop focusing on her own problems and rather feeling sorry for herself she decides to think of others. Thinking of others and being there for other people is the best way to feel better.
"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them" Albert Einstein
A Sophisticate does not make the time for others so she can make herself feel superior. When a Sophisticate helps others (A Sophisticate Helps Others) there exists a feeling that she has a purpose in life. Instead of consuming herself with her troubles however real or imagined, she channels her negative energy into positive energy. Helping others helps her gain perspective, not only on her life but about life in general.
"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise" Victor Hugo
In the end, when a Sophisticate has a bad day, she focuses on the fact that she does not have a bad life. A Sophisticate is resilient and counts her blessings. She learns from every experience bad or good. In her heart, she knows that no matter how dark the night, the sun will rise again somehow, somewhere. ;D
