"The harder I work, the luckier I get" Samuel Goldwyn

Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day or at least that is what they say. They're right at least for a anyone considered Sophisticated in the 21st Century. Are the  Irish really luckier than most people? Do their symbols of good luck bring any more good luck then other traditions symbols of good luck and good fortune? Probably not. Still, St. Patrick's Day is not just a holiday made up by the card companies. St. Patrick's Day is a religious holiday.

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, the saint's religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrates in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink, and feast- on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage. (From www.history.com)

So, is there such thing as the luck of the Irish? Is everyone Irish on St. Patrick's Day? Is everyone lucky?

Luck is defined as 1.: a force that brings good fortune or adversity. b : the events or circumstances that operate for or against an individual. 2. : favoring chance

Every day a Sophisticate has to make a choice. Does she spend her time looking for charms or symbols of luck such as a four leaf clover? Or does a Sophisticate use own her charm and knowledge to put herself in a position to increase the odds of her success? How does a Sophisticate have luck?

Through hard work, dedication, and focus she is lucky due to her own efforts. When it comes to her focus, she focuses not only on the details of her work but on being kind herself and more importantly, to others. With the effort and focus on her work and in her personal life she puts herself in a position where she can have the chance or opportunity to succeed given any circumstance.

A Sophisticate has luck because she knows how to deal with a bad day (A Sophisticate has a Bad DayShe knows how to make a bad situation good.
When all is lost, a Sophisticate uses what she has including her knowledge, wisdom, or charm. to either change her situation or make the situation better for herself and others. Some people call that southern charm, savoir-faire, or having street smarts (A Sophisticate get's an Education)

Even though everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day, a Sophisticate isn't lucky just because she is Irish.  In the end, a Sophisticate has the luck of the Irish every day because she has the drive and the desire to succeed and win.
