A Sophisticate and her Inner Voice

“Only a few find the way, some don't recognize it when they do - some... don't ever want to.” The Cheshire Cat

When I would ask my mom's advice when having to make a difficult decision she would ask me in return 'What does your gut say?' As I grew up I learned she was asking me to listen and react to what my feelings were telling me. She was telling me to trust myself in what I felt what was the right thing to do.

My mistakes were always as a result of me not trusting myself. Whenever I go over a bad decision or mistake, I always realize that it starts with me not following my instincts. The real mistake was that I knew what was right and knew what felt good but I used logic to convince myself my feelings were wrong.

"I always give myself such good advice but I seldom ever follow it" from 'Alice in Wonderland' (1956)

More and more I have come to realize that whenever I make a mistake it is because I am not paying attention to what I am feeling. My mistakes are a result of me over thinking or obsessing over a situation so much that I can no longer hear my inner voice. Every Sophisticate knows what to do. Her decisions always choose her.  That is, if she chooses to pay attention.

Alice: "Would you tell me, please. Which way I ought to go from here
Cheshire Cat: "That depends a good deal on where you want to go."
Alice: "It doesn't much matter where."
Cheshire Cat: "Then it doesn't matter which way you go!"

Whenever a Sophisticate has to make a decision she considers her options. Yet, before anything is decided upon she forgets what choices are in front of her. She stops over thinking or obsessing and let's go. Eventually, her feelings will tell her what to do and lead her in the right direction.

A Sophisticate practices meditation, the art of  relaxing, not thinking, and use her imagination (A Sophisticate in Wonderland) to transport her to a place where she wants to be in order to discover where she has to go. In the story 'Alice in Wonderland', the Cheshire Cat is the inner voice of 'Alice' as she makes her journey through Wonderland. The Cheshire Cat is crazy and sometimes a Sophisticate has to be little 'crazy' or 'mad' (A Sophisticate is a Mad Hatter) to get through the day or life in general.

Her inner voice is a combination of lessons she learned from past experiences, feelings, instincts, and of course, the innate sixth sense that only women seem to have a.k.a. woman's intuition.

To make the right decisions and to avoid making mistakes a Sophisticate listens to her inner voice. In the end, she takes the time to be by herself, to be herself, and allow her feelings to take over so her inner voice can be heard. ;D
