"I don't want to be alone, I want to be left alone" Audrey Hepburn

The first eighteen years of my life I moved 9 times. Being an only child in a new neighborhood, there was a lot of times when I was alone. If I didn't want to be alone I had to go out by myself to make friends. The experience taught me how to be social and yet at the same time comfortable being alone with myself without feeling bored.

When I was little my mom took me to the library and I would get a bunch of books and spend hours reading in my room. Reading helped me be less lonely. For me reading was an escape to places and situations that were different and a lot more fun then my own.

As I got older with the pressures and stress of life, being alone was no longer as lonely. In fact, it was more like a vacation.  Traveling in my mid-twenties, I learned how to eat in a crowded restaurant and be comfortable. Being alone for me is a great way to meet new people so long as you're careful.

"I have to be alone very often. I'd be quite happy if I spent from Saturday night until Monday morning alone in my apartment. That's how i refuel" Audrey Hepburn: Many Sided Charmer, LIFE Magazine, December 7, 1953

Since a Sophisticate has to juggle lot's of responsibilities, a Sophisticate has many choices and decisions to make. To ensure she is making the right choices and decisions she needs time alone. Time alone allows her  relax and re-fuel. Time alone allows her to sort out her feelings and her thoughts with no distractions or outside opinions. To connect to what is inner most in her heart, she occasionally spends her time away from others.

"There is being alone and feeling lonely. Between those two there is a choice"

A Sophisticate can be in a crowd and feel lonely. There is a difference between feeling lonely and being alone.  A Sophisticate chooses to be alone. When she is lonely she feels there is something missing. When she feels there is no love missing from her life, she can be alone without feeling lonely.

"Distance means so little when someone means so much" Unknown

She is never lonely because she is always connected to the people she loves. Those closest to her heart are never far away regardless of the distance between them.

Freedom is the most precious gift for a Sophisticate. One way she enjoys her freedom is by choosing to be alone. In the end, a Sophisticate enjoys being alone because inside herself she is never lonely. ;D
