"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep" Scott Adams
Imagine for a moment if you were given a large white canvas and were provided paints, markers, chalk, charcoals, pencils, and brushes of all colors, shapes, and sizes. There is no eraser or ability to remove anything you were to create. Then you were asked to create something that represented you. You were given a week with nothing to do except this representation of you.
Would you be scared? excited? nervous? What would you do first? Would you plan out and/or brainstorm ideas on a separate piece of paper in pencil where you could erase? Or would you just start painting whatever came to your mind or what you felt?
"Painting is just another way of keeping a diary" Pablo Picasso
For a Sophisticate who considers herself creative, a blank page, a blank canvas, or anything blank is exciting because it is full of possibilities. The question for a Sophisticate as an artist is what opportunity or direction should she should take. Who is she? What story does she want to tell? What ideas does she want to represent about herself? Her thoughts and her opinions.
Art is selfish. Painting, drawing, writing, is all about perspective. The perspective of the artist, no one else. Everyone has their own perspective or sees something different based on experiences. When a Sophisticate is an artist she shares her perspective for the world to see. She is brave and fearless because must endure criticism and judgement.
You don't write because you want to say something, you write because you have something to say" F. Scott Fitzgerald
A true Sophisticate and artist isn't creative because she wants recognition. Her satisfaction comes from the act itself. Her ability to face the fear of criticism and because she wants people to see perspective is reward in itself. In the end, a Sophisticate is an artist because regardless of what others may think or say and she is not afraid of saying this is who I am. ;D
