A Sophisticate Celebrates Women's History

"History will be kind to me because I intend to write it" Winston Churchill

In 1987, Congress declared March as National Women's History Month in perpetuity. A special Presidential Proclamation is issued every year which honors the extraordinary achievements of American women (See National Women's  History Project.com)

Even though the celebration of women's history was not honored until 1987, Women have always honored the sacrifices and accomplishments of those who came before them.  In the 21st Century a Sophisticate is free but the cost of that freedom was paid by women fighting for what was right, fair, and just.

A Sophisticate honors women's history by supporting other women. A Sophisticate doesn't compete unless it is with herself. Sophistication in the 21st Century is about respecting the lessons of the past to understand how to go forward in the future. After certain women in the 20th Century like Rosa Parks and Gloria Steinem made efforts for equality,  Sophistication in the 21st Century has become more than wearing an expensive outfit.

For a Sophisticate, she learns about women's history to understand and appreciate the opportunities that are available to her. She knows to appreciate the struggles that women went through because she realize there are challenges that exist today.

Today, a Sophisticate is a global citizen. Women's struggles continue and her knowledge of women's history presents the opportunity for a Sophisticate to reflect on the past to see what can be accomplished today.

Sophistication in the 21st Century means women coming together and accomplishing a better tomorrow no matter what nationality or what country. Women's history month allows a Sophisticate to reflect on the strength and hope that previous women had to give her the opportunities to allow her to succeed today. A Sophisticate is a positive role model with an equal amount of strength and hope within herself to provide women the opportunities to succeed tomorrow.

There are still more for goals for women to achieve and fight for when it comes to equality whether it be in our own country or globally. In the end, a Sophisticate celebrates  Women's history because she makes history today. She makes history today to achieve a positive example for women who will come tomorrow. ;D
