Leadership Etiquette

"Managers are people who do things right; leaders are people who do the right thing." Warren Bennis

A Sophisticate is a Leader.  A Sophisticate doesn't follow what everyone else does because she does not seek out attention, she is merely her authentic self different from everyone else. (How to be a Sophisticate in the 21st Century). One of the differences between Managers and Leaders is that Managers are perfect because they work from a defined set of rules. There are no rules for Leaders. Leaders work from within themselves. A Leader follows her heart and follows what she believes is right based on her perception of a particular situation or circumstance.

"Two roads diverged in a wood and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." Robert Frost

A Leader is not perfect (A Sophisticate is Imperfect; A Sophisticate is a Sinner). She is a risk taker (A Sophisticate Takes Risks). Therefore, the rules of etiquette are more important for her than it is for a Manager because she follows the path undiscovered and unknown by others who have come before her.

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader" John Quincy Adams

Have fun: Leaders are dreamers who are results oriented.

A Sophisticate uses her imagination to develop a vision of the future. She will find her purpose from what allows her heart beat faster and there she will discover her passion. That passion allows for enthusiasm. A Sophisticate is  enthusiastic and excitable. The most important rule of etiquette for a Sophisticate is to channel that enthusiasm and excitement by having fun.

"Honesty will never break you" Kate Hudson

Be Honest: In the 21st Century, the truth always comes out.

A Sophisticate can li but the truth will always reveal itself somehow and some way. The truth will be discovered eventually.  Being her  authentic self, she can't lie to herself and therefore is unable to lie to others. A Sophisticate knows how to communicate reality with respect and compassion.

"A Leader who does not have people following them is exactly that, a follower"

Communicate: Leadership is about others not about the Leader.

A Sophisticate knows that they have to reach out to people. A Sophisticate is fearless (A Sophisticate has no Fear). Good news, bad news, or however ugly the situation or circumstance becomes they are unafraid to reach out to people and communicate with honesty, respect, and compassion.

"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 7:12)

Show Respect: Treat others the way you want to be treated

Respect will not be provided by others unless a Sophisticate gives it to others.  A Sophisticate treats others the way she herself would want to be treated.

"Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality" Warren Bennis

Exemplify and Execute: A Sophisticate executes. Their actions  including  having fun, being honest, communicating, and showing respect. speak louder than their words. They set the example not just with words but in their behavior (Leadership: Execute & Exemplify).

"Becoming a leader is synonymous with becoming yourself. it is precisely that simple, and also that difficult" Warren Bennis

A Sophisticate is a leader because she is herself. In the end, she is a woman who follows the one rule of leadership etiquette: To exemplify her authentic self with enthusiasm, honesty, compassion, and respect to help execute her vision of a better tomorrow for herself and others. ;D
