A Sophisticate at "V" Vertex Fitness

"Arrogance is thinking something is perfect after the first draft. Humility is knowing that there is always room for improvement." Simon Sinek

According to Dwayne Wimmer the Owner of Vertex Fitness people may do activities that might increase their “Fitness” level, but it may not increase their “Health”.  Certain activities are high risk and can get people injured.   “Exercise” should not be high risk. It should help someone increase his or her fitness level without reducing his or her health by getting injured.

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." Wayne Gretzky

When I first entered the workout studio, I wanted to exercise to stay in shape. The stress of how to be an entrepreneur made me realize I needed a way to release the stress I felt. Talking with the trainer who I had met at Veritas Financial at their First Tuesday Networking, at Avenue Kitchen, Vertex Fitness was the place. (The Start

By Session Four (Warming Up) my body was adjusting to my routine. Session Seven (My Song) I was well on my way to building up my strength that was helping me to achieve goals outside of the studio. By Session Nine (Inspiration) it was not so much perspiration but inspiration that motivated me to go to Vertex. By Session Ten (The end or the beginning?) I felt as if I achieved good friends, good health and a good perspective on life.

"A small team, committed to a cause bigger than themselves, can achieve absolutely anything." Simon Sinek‬

What I discovered during the third session (New Trainer) was Dwayne is the teacher, who teaches clients and trainer at Vertex Fitness, so they can move down a similar path and be as successful as he is.

"We don’t do business with companies. We do business with people." Simon Sinek‬

Who is the man behind of Vertex Fitness and what is his background? In 1988, before “Personal Trainers” were available to the general public only movie stars and wealthy people had trainers.  Dwayne envisioned having a facility that was all one-on-one training for those who wanted better results then they could get on their own.

"We fight against things we hate. We fight for things we love." Simon Sinek‬

Dwayne went to college to be a teacher.  He feels as if he is teaching the clients and he is teaching the trainer on how to be trainers.

"Professionalism is a frame of mind, not a paycheck." Cecil Castle

Yes, he wants to share the knowledge he has learned over the years and would like to help others be successful.

Dwayne was a floor instructor at a health club that facilitated a weight loss program that incorporated one-on-one sessions with the participants.  He loved how he was able to get to know the members of the club and help them work through the program. Within a few years, he wrote a business plan and went to the bank and got a loan.

"He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life." Muhammad Ali

On a trip to the Main Line he realized this was a good location for the kind of business he had visualized.  Within a few years, 1998, he made his way to the Main Line as a Strength Conditioning Coach at Villanova University and did personal training on the side.  Within 18 months he left his position at Villanova because the time he spent as a Strength Coach was cutting into the time he had to give to the growing clientele.

He worked as a subcontractor in a personal training studio for the next 18 months until he was able to secure a loan to open his own studio, and Vertex Fitness was born.

"If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough"

It was because of his interest and background in both exercise and technology, he can differentiate the tools that are fads from those that can truly help an individual get better results from their program.

"My goal isn’t to make the world fit, it is to make my little dent in the universe of the industry to help it get back on track from the entertainment industry it has become, back to a results based industry it came from." Dwayne Wimmer

The goal of Vertex Fitness is to teach people how to get stronger to perform better and stay safe while doing it. I learned this goal first hand during Session Five (When Irish Eyes are Smiling)

The meaning behind the name reflects the idea everyone’s “Vertex” is different. The 70-year-old woman with osteoporosis isn’t interested in being able to run faster, she is interested in living a healthier life and not being frail while doing it.

At Vertex Fitness they listen to a persons needs and wants and work to help them get stronger to be able to do what they would like to do. They work to help them get stronger to make sure they are who they want to be.

When she puts the appropriate effort into the right movements, she makes great changes in her body without spending a lot of time doing it.  In the end, a  Sophisticate goes to Vertex Fitness because of what Vertex Fitness stands for, the benefits they provide, and the goal of the owner. ;D
