A Sophisticate is Lust

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' J.K. Rowling

Is lust desire, A desire, or merely an attraction? Lust is a desire that is challenged. Lust is a desire that we dream of possessing. Lust is a desire that we dream of  controlling.

"The Mirror of Erised shows us what we want... whatever we want..."  From 'Harry Potter: The Sorcerers Stone' J.K. Rowling

What separates us from the animals is our mind. Yet, we still have the instincts of an animal. Between our basic animal instincts and our mind is our subconscious or what some may refer to as our "gut feeling". We can ignore our rationale mind and we can ignore our subconscious mind but we cannot separate from our animal instinct.

"The Mirror of Erised shows us nothing more or less than the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts"  'Harry Potter: The Sorcerers Stone' J.K. Rowling

Our animal instinct comes into play through one of our five senses.

We see someone from across the room, we see a large amount of money (A Sophisticate is Avarice), see a large corner office, in a large smell perfume or cologne, see a room of books, see a beautiful wedding dresser ceremony, large diamond ring or necklace (A Sophisticate is Avarice), hear a song or  an instrument play, we see and smell  food cooking on the bar-b-que, or see the white cloud of whipped cream on top of our favorite dessert (A Sophisticate is Gluttony).

Lust is response.

Our body responds, as the beast in us comes alive. We  begin to sweat in anticipation, our pupils dilate, our hands shake in excitement or fear, our stomach starts to growl, and a feeling of intense attraction possesses us to the point where it clouds rational thought and we forget what we are doing.

Our body cannot distinguish what is right and wrong for us. Our animal instinct is not developed enough to know that what we want is what is what we want. Our animal instinct is not developed enough to distinguish whatis good for us.

What is right and wrong for us depends on our subconscious mind. Our rationale mind comes in play when that right decision has been made and we make a plan to possess it.Without our subconscious and rationale mind we act or live based on instinct and typically get into trouble.

"The Mirror of Erised will give us neither knowledge or truth." 'Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone' J.K. Rowling

Lust is jealousy not envy (A Sophisticate is Envy) taken to the next level.  Lust is laziness (A Sophisticate is Sloth) ignoring how we feel and allowing our animal instincts to take control of our actions.

Lust is uncontrollable want or want of something or someone to the point of intensity or emotion. When "want" is feeling it is jealousy (A Sophisticate is Envy). Lust is a deep heartfelt, uncontrollable desire for possession of something or someone we do not have. Desire is "want" taken to the next level.

"Men have wasted away before the Mirror of Eirsed, entranced by what they have seen, or been driven mad, not knowing if what it shows is real or even possible" 'Harry Potter: The Sorcerers Stone' J.K. Rowling

Lust is when our desire possesses us to the point we want to be the object of that possession. Lust is when our body responds to animal instinct and our rational mind begins to process it. It goes from instinct, to rational mind as we begin to plan on how we will possess it.

“Each of us is born with a box of matches inside us but we can't strike them all by ourselves” Laura Esquivel "Like Water for Chocolate"

The positive side of lust for learning can be our motivation or developing a plan to become valedictorian of our class. We all know the phrases "Curiosity killed the cat" and "Ignorance is bliss" The negative side of or our lust for learning can be curiosity that can hurt us or ruin our faith and hope.

Lust is our want to succumb to the object of our desire.  Our thought to control turns into a feeling of being controlled by what we want. We want what we see in our imagination to become reality.

Lust as a sin, is when jealousy meets control, meets desire.

Lust is bad when we become frustrated or angry (A Sophisticate is Wrath) because our desires are not being met or we are not getting what we want.  When lust is a sin is when we want to harm others. Manipulation is a form of lust gone wrong. Stalking is a form of lust gone wrong. We see something  or someone we don't have and want to posses with the potential result of potential harm. If someone is uncomfortable with you "stalking" them or unwarranted attention then it is a sin.

"The happiest man on earth would be able to use the Mirror of Erised like a normal mirror, that is, he would look into it and see himself exactly as he is." From 'Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone' J.K. Rowling

A Sophisticate indulges without allowing her desire to be detrimental to her. She allows her animal instinct to work with her to allow to live her ideal life and pursue with her rationale mind what will benefit her in the end. In the end, a Sophisticate is lust because she desires nothing more than what she already has and what is right for her. ;D
